Name: Dave Lewis.

Title: Head of Humanities.

Qualifications: M.Ed (Curriculum Development); B.A.hons (Geography,Geology); Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Geography, Physical Education).

Experience: Dave Lewis has been teaching in the Maelor School since 1980 and has been Head of Humanities since 1988. He is also employed by the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) as the Chief Examiner for GCSE Humanities and has worked on assessment issues for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).

Name: Graham Reardon

Title: Head of Geography.

Qualifications: B.Sc.hons (Earth Studies); Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Geography); Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Development.

Experience: Following completion of his degree and PGCE at Aberystwyth University, Graham Reardon taught for four years in South wales before spending a year teaching geography at Mount Isa High Scchool in Queensland, Australia and travelling. Graham Reardon arrived at the Maelor School in September 2000.

Name: Rob Quinn

Title: Head of History.

Qualifications: B.A.hons (Modern History); Post Graduate Certificate of Education (History, Humanities).

Experience: Following the completion of his degree course at Lincoln College, Oxfford and his PGCE at Sheffield University, Rob Quinn taught for four years in Lincoln before arriving at the Maelor School in April 1998. For the past two years Rob Quinn has been Chair of the History Quality Circle within the Wrexham Local Education Authority.

Name: Sian Collings

Title: Assistant Teacher.

Qualifications: B.A.hons (History, German, English Literature); Post Graduate Certificate of Education (History, English).

Experience: Sian Collings has been teaching at the Maelor school since September 2005 following her successful completion of the PGCE course at University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in June 2005.

Name: Melissa Edwards

Title: Head of Psychology/Sociology

Qualifications: B.A.hons (Psychology, Theology); Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

Experience: Melissa Edwards has been teaching at the Maelor School since 2004. Prior to this she she taught at Llandrillo College and was coordinator for the Welsh Baccalaureate course. Ms Edwards has also had teaching posts at St. David's College, Llandudno, Abbey Gate College, Chester and Howell's School, Denbigh where she was a Housemistress.

Name: Jan Binley-Jones

Title: Head of Religious Studies.

Qualifications: B.Ed.hons (Religious Studies); Post Graduate Certificate of Education (Religious Studies).

Experience: Ms. Binley-Jones joined the Maelor School as Head of RS in September 1984 following a spell teaching in Bryn Offa school in Wrexham. She has also taught A level Law and Sociology.

Name: Sian Williams.

The faculty has seven full time members of staff who are all specialists within their subjects. Our highly qualified and well-motivated team use a variety of approaches to make our lessons interesting, informative and challenging. Our aim is to provide a learning environment which supports, encourages and stimulates students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
