SUBJECT INFORMATION
The Humanities Faculty at the Maelor School comprises the subjects of Geography, History and Religious Studies. These three subjects are studied by all students in Key Stage 3 (years 7-9). Geography and History are offered as GCSE options in Key Stage 4 (year 11) and as AS level and AS level options in Key Stage 5 (the sixth form). In addition, all students study a GCSE Humanities course - a combination of all three subjects - in year 10.
Although the component subjects of the humanities are taught separately for the most part, a member of staff may teach more than one subject and all members of the Faculty work together, sharing a common ethos and common approaches to curriculum organisation, teaching & learning, assessment, etc.
More information on the organisation of the curriculum within the Humanities can be found by using the Key Stage buttons below, while detailed information on the individual subjects can be accessed using the subject navigator bar on the left.
